The Genesis Site - Venus

Genesis 11

In older days our solarsystem was built up in a different way as it is today. So myths are teaching us. The planet Venus is the most striking example of a change in this former system. She once was seen as the eye, the soul or the heart of the sungod. This means she stood visible in front of the sun.
In Egypt Venus' name was Isis. Isis was known as "The goddess of many names". As Hathor she was The Eye of the Sungod Ra, she was The Dweller in his Breast. Another name she carried was Uatchet: The Lady of Flames. She was sent to earth to punish mankind in here rebellion against Ra. She got a new name: Sekhmet, She-who-prevails. Ra called her back and then Isis, with here name Nut, carried Ra away between here horns. Ra wasn't seen anylonger.

In their epos about that remote times the Maya declare that the sun we are seing today is not the same as the sun in the old days. They talk about an age of darkness and the first arising of Venus as Morningstar. This all happened shortly after the flood. Meanwhile the Maya endure the strange experience of hearing all kind of new languages.
The Meso-american god Quetzal-cohuatl, known with several names by several tribes, was once a god of civilization and prosperity. But one day he offered himself by putting himself on fire. His heart flew up like the quetzal-bird. This was the moment he became the Morningstar. So Venus was named Quetzal-cohuatl.
Quetzal-cohuatl means feathered watersnake. In fact he is to be compared with for instance the Egyptian Phoenix and the Garuda from Hinduism. They all came down in remote times in catastrophic circumstances. Their stories are accompanied by movements in the solarsystem, whether they caused it or not.

Other myths are dealing with strange descriptions of the planet Venus. There is said she was smoking (Meso-America) or having a beard (Peru). She was seen as a star with fire and smoke (India). Some called here bright torch of heaven, shining like the sun (Middle-East). She was clothed with fire (Middle-East) and turning around, spreading her flames in fire (Egypt).

In Sumer Venus was called Inanna, Queen of Heaven. The Akkadian people knew here as Ishtar, the Sidonians as Ashtoreth. With that name, Ashtoreth or Ashtaroth, she is known in the Bible too (see e.g. Judges 2:13 and 1 Kings 11:5). In Genesis 14:5 (the time of Abraham, not that long after the confusion) we hear about a village called Ashteroth-karnaim. This name means: "Venus with the horns". Why should anyone give a village such a name? I am convinced it has to do with the approach of Venus.

In Hawaii one of the older gods was called Kaonohiokala, meaning The Eye-ball of the Sun. As the Egyptian Isis, he accompanied deceased spirits to a place in heaven. It is very likely Kaonohiokala has the same origin as Isis.

In fact, the pattern of a planet (or star) before the sun (or, maybe better: a sun) is known worldwide. I give some examples. In China the old sign for sun is a circle or disk with in the center a point. The Zapotecs and Maya in Meso-America used basiccaly the same sign. This glyph meant "holy" too. So, as "holy", the circle with dot was also used by the Delaware. In fact the sign crept into christian art too. It is the aureole or halo behind the head of saints. The old Roman emperors used a laurel wreath to indicate their divinity. It is the same kind of symbol.

Ever mixed up with the impossibility of a star standing before the crescent of the moon? You find this theme not only on old Mesopotamian sculptures, but on flags of modern countries too (e.g. Tunesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey and Mauritania). I am convinced this all goes back to the time of an old sun standing in heaven and with the planet Venus visible as his eye. But we have forgotten what mankind ever saw. We only have "myths" and "legends".
